On December 9th, the Confucius Institute convened for its annual conference at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, also coinciding with the commencement of the "Confucius Institute Tour and Chinese Language Teaching Exhibition," held at the Beijing Hotel. Zhou Ji, the Minister of Education, presided over the ribbon cutting ceremony.
China Central Radio & TV University's Center for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language set up a stand at the exhibition to showcase its wide variety of Chinese language products and resources. Chinese Language Video for the Classroom, its supplementary video series developed for use by Chinese teachers abroad, was well received by delegates from many countries.
Additionally, the Center's multimedia study materials, including a new classroom resource developed by the China R&D Center of the Confucius Institute at Michigan State University, Exploring Chinese Culture, as well as Chinese Your Way and Character A Day were also highly appraised by delegates at the conference. The China R&D Center of CI-MSU is a Chinese language classroom resource development team established especially by China Central TV & Radio University for MSU's Confucius Institute, and is comprised by core resources and staff at both the Center for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and the Modern Distance Education Resource Center.
