The Adulthood Ceremony of Han Dynasty

A trend of wearing Han clothing has come to the spotlight recently. On the occasion of every big traditional festival, youngsters in traditional Han clothing can be seen in parks in cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Zhengzhou, Wuhan and Guangzhou, for attending traditional rituals such as the adulthood ceremony, boy ceremony, climbing mountains on the Double Ninth Festival, worshipping the moon on the mid-autumn day, celebrating the Lantern Festival or begging for cleverness on the day of double-seventh.

The Han clothing is the national costume of Han people in China. From the time when the Three Emperors and Five Sovereigns ruled China till the Dynasty of Ming, in the history of several thousand years, the Chinese people (with Han people as the main part) had done few changes to their way of dressing. The costume in this period of time was thus named after this ethnic group of Han.

Participants in the activities of displaying Han clothing or Han customs are the supporters for the traditional Chinese culture regardless of their ages, genders, professions and interests. Their behaviors not only declare their identity as Han people but also pronounce their willingness and determination to carry on and promote the Chinese traditional culture by revitalizing Han clothing as a start.

However, these supporters also stated "what we have done is not encouraging people to wear this kind of clothes as daily dresses, we ourselves don't do that either. We dress in this way only on special occasions. We just hope others could know more about this traditional costume through our effort. Maybe when it comes to a significant traditional festival, the idea of wearing Han clothes to demonstrate the national character can also come to them."

The Traditional Wedding Ceremony of Han Style

With the revival of the Chinese classical culture, more and more newly-weds tend to wear traditional costumes when taking their wedding photographies to show personality and photo studios around the country thus prepare themselves with many exquisitely made and ingeniously designed wedding dress of Han style catering to the new need, which facilitates the promotion and development of the Han costume shops across the country.

The Han Costume Shop

Wearing Han clothing is not a fashion in China only. It has gradually expanded to the Chinese students groups and the Chinese communities in Japan, Germany, America, Australia, Canada, Singapore and Malaysia. Some Chinese students in these countries even chose to wear Han clothes on their graduation ceremony and also took a pride in spreading the knowledge about Han costume in the local countries.
